Laura Gabbé is a Licensed Acupuncturist, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Nationally Certified Herbologist with more than 15 years of experience in eastern healing arts. She began as a Shiatsu Massage Therapist in 1989, and she earned her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine in 1998. In addition to running her private practice in Manhattan, she has worked with cancer patients in acupuncture research at Montefiore Hospital, Bronx, NY. She is also a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Green Mountain Institute of Oriental Medicine in White River Junction, VT, where she teaches weekend intensives.
To enhance her healing work, Laura draws upon extensive experience in a range of disciplines, including ZaZen meditation (which she has practiced for more than 20 years), martial arts, Alexander Technique, Pilates, qi gong, yoga, music, and competitive athletics. She currently holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Aikido, a Japanese martial art, and teaches at her dojo, Aikido of Park Slope. This rich background helps Laura successfully treat people from all walks of life, with all manner of complaints. She specializes in stress-related disorders, pain management and womens health.
Laura believes one of the most exciting aspects of practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine is finding creative ways to integrate this medicine into western life styles. She tailors treatments that specifically address the individual and changing needs of each patient. In addition, Laura cultivates and maintains a multi-disciplinary referral network of health care practitioners in order to provide the best possible care for her patients.
